Nofence for cattle
Add some more introduction to farming with cattle
Nofence system works best for the following setups:
Meat production
You intent to use collars on:
- Beef cattle
- Replacement stock
- Steers
- Heifers
Grazing method
- Extensive grazing (few pasture moves, large areas)
- Managed grazing is possible with excellent mobile coverage
Conservation grazing
Herd size: 5-100 heads
Animals have strong herd mentality, and they are less likely to escape when in a group, and if they do, they will return to be with the herd.
If you have more animals than 100, we would recommend splitting herd to a smaller group, and start with lower quantity of collars.
- Beef production
- Heifers
- Conservation grazing
Grazing method
- Best suited for extensive grazing (few pasture moves, large areas)
- Managed grazing is possible with excellent mobile coverage
Dairy production
Nofence is not suitable for milking cows
Our collars are currently not designed for use on milking cows because their daily routine requires regular movement between pasture and the milking parlor. This predictable and repeated path cannot be reliably managed with virtual fencing alone, which makes it difficult to ensure consistent access without compromising containment or safety.
Although your main farm operation is dairy production, you can still use Nofence on:
- Dry cows
- Heifers
- Sucker herds (only on adult animals)
It is important that those are separated from the milking cows and graze on a paddock away from them.
Nofence might not be the best fit for you if
- You are not a professional farmer.
- You rely on intensive, frequently changing paddock systems.
- Your pasture has no mobile coverage, and you need real-time alerts.
- You’re not comfortable handling animals individually.
- You only want to collar part of the herd.
- You’re not okay with the idea of a few calves wandering or animals occasionally testing the boundary.
We are aware, that every farm is unique and doesn't necessarily checks all of the criteria's above. If you think, Nofence would be a good solution for you, we encourage you to fill out the qualification form, and our sales team will contact you to disscuss your farm setup.
