Successful grazing with Nofence

At Nofence, we're proud to offer the world's first virtual fencing solution for grazing animals. But just like any tool, it works best when it’s used in the right hands and the right context. If you're considering joining the growing community of farmers using Nofence, here’s what you need to know about who succeeds with it—and why.

Key success factors

You raise cattle, sheep, or goats
Nofence is specifically designed for these grazing animals. While we love horses and other livestock, our collars are not built or tested for any other species.
You have reliable cell coverage
Good 2G cellular coverage is essential for receiving updates, changing pastures, and monitoring your animals through the app. The fence will still work without coverage—but you won’t get alerts or live data until connectivity is restored.
You have a smartphone and use it regularly
The Nofence app runs on Apple and Android devices. If you're already using your phone for farm tools or everyday tasks, you’ll feel right at home.
You’re a registered farm business *DOES NOT APPLY TO THE US-remove note when publishing
We only work with legally registered U.S. farm businesses. That means you’ll need an EIN (Employer Identification Number) or equivalent, and the person placing the order must also be the one using and paying for the collars.
You’re comfortable managing your herd hands-on.
This isn’t a "set-it-and-forget-it" solution. It is important that you will have to:
  • Replace collars or charge batteries when needed
  • Monitor herd behavior through the app
  • Respond quickly to alerts or changes
You use an extensive grazing system
Nofence shines in larger pastures with minimal changes to boundaries. If you're working with a fixed paddock system and frequent moves, our product may not be the right fit.
You collar the whole herd (adults only)
All adult animals in your herd must be collared. We don’t yet offer calf collars. Calves will generally stay with their mothers, but they may wander. You need to be okay with that—and plan accordingly.
You understand the boundaries—literally
Nofence is not a physical barrier. Animals can escape, especially if frightened. You’ll need to assess whether additional fencing is needed and be prepared for what happens if collars run out of battery or malfunction. It’s your land. Your animals. Your responsibility.

Nofence tchnology might not be for you if:
  • You raise any other animals than cattle, sheep, or goats.
  • You’re not comfortable handling animals individually.
  • You rely on intensive, frequently changing paddock systems.
  • Your pasture has no mobile coverage, and you need real-time alerts.
  • You’re a private in SWdividual or hobbyist without a registered farm business.
  • You only want to collar part of the herd.
  • You’re not okay with the idea of a few calves wandering or animals occasionally testing the boundary.
  • You need integrations or data beyond what’s provided in our app.
