Cattle Battery Replacement Program

Some of you may recall that certain cattle batteries produced in 2023 contained a fault which led them to short circuit, resulting in the cattle collars no longer working. This issue occurred when the collars tried to connect to the 4G network.

To ensure stability for our customers, we set all cattle collars to use only the 2G network from the summer of 2023 til now. With this temporary solution in place, we are now getting ready to replace the faulty batteries.

Why now, over a year later?

We have designed and produced entirely new batteries to resolve the issue, and they are now ready. The new batteries will look and function just like the previous ones —only without the issue.

As more countries prepare to phase out their 2G networks, Nofence will provide new batteries to affected customers. Our goal is to complete the replacement program by the end of March, ensuring that our collars can operate on both 2G and 4G networks.

Who will be involved?

Customers who bought cattle 2.5 collars or extra C2.5 batteries before December 2023 are eligible to be contacted.  All the faulty batteries will be replaced with new-generation batteries.

What's the replacement process?

Identify and mark affected batteries

Battery with text2

Gather all the batteries of cattle collars for an easy inspection. Check the title and prod date on the battery, if the title is "Nofence C2 Battery", prod date is from "1.2023" to "12.2023" like the examples above, it is an affected battery.

Note: batteries produced in 2023 with the Title  "Nofence C2-B3 Battery" are fault free.

Battery 2023 marked

Please mark these batteries in a visible way so you can easily identify them later.

We strongly encourage you to recycle all the faulty batteries, to avoid any accidental use when 4G is re-enabled.

If you by choice or mistake end up using the batteries, they may short-circuit once we re-enable the 4G network. Your collars will then be switched off, leaving your cattle without a functioning fence.

Battery 2022 marked

Batteries from 2022 or before:

IF you own any batteries produced in 2022 or before, mark them clearly with their production year These batteries are only functional when used with the collars of the same year.

You can easily identify the compatible collars by the design—collars with solar panels on both sides and a serial number on the narrower side, while those with a single solar panel and a serial number on the wider side are not compatible with older batteries.
