How many adult animals will be part of your Nofence- herd?

Due to animal welfare all adult animals in the herd need to wear a collar. This is to avoid those without a collar attracting those with collar out of the Nofence pasture.

Sheep

All adult animals in a herd need to wear a collar. Young animals must be large enough to carry the weight of the collar. As long as the lambs are following their mother they do not need their own collar.

Recommended Additional Equipment

This is we recommend for numbers of extra batteries, chargers and Shelter Beacons, based on your requested number of collars. You can buy extra equipment during the season if you need more than what we recommend. You can change the numbers, however you will need to buy Shelter Beacons if you buy collars for goat

Additional Equipment for Sheep / Goat

Charger for sheep/goat batteries

To fully charge a battery you need approximately 8-10 hours. When you receive the collars, the batteries will be approximately 30% charged (because of shipping restrictions). We recommend that you fully charge your batteries before you start training your animals.

We recommend: 1 pcs

Extra battery for sheep/goat

We recommend one extra battery per 10th collar for sheep/goat. The number of extra batteries varies between customers and we therefore recommend this as a starting point. Those with the longest battery life have relatively large pastures, little vegetation inside the pasture and a lot of sun.

We recommend: 1 pcs

Shelter Beacon

In barns/shelters you need Shelter Beacons. This is because we need to turn off the GPS when animals are underneath a roof. The Shelter Beacon is attached to the walls/roof. If animals seek shelter without Shelter Beacons, the consequence could be inaccurate positions that in turn can lead to warning sounds and electric pulses.
Shelter Beacons turn off the collar’s GPS when the animal is within a radius of 10 meters. The collar and the Shelter Beacon connect using Bluetooth, and this connection is relatively weak. This means that the signal can be blocked by small obstacles or the animal itself. We therefore recommend placing them on opposing sides to send signals from different positions for best coverage and best effect.
You will need at least two Shelter Beacons per resting place/shelter. For large and complex rooms you should increase the number of Shelter Beacons. Ask our Customer consultants if you are unsure.
